Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Josh Gordon was suspended indefinitely earlier this week for violating the NFL’s substance abuse and PED policies.
The suspension threw some around the team for a loop with a couple players calling out the NFL’s marijuana policy.
In talking to the media for the first time since Gordon’s suspension was announced, Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson noted that he’s been in touch with the receiver and would like to see Gordon return to the team at some point.
Wilson also shared a private conversation he had with Gordon after the suspension became official.
Despite having played only five games with one another, Wilson and Gordon built up some strong chemistry on the field. The former Pro Bowler averaged nearly 20 yards per reception in Seattle.
It’s not yet known what’s going to happen behind the scenes. Gordon will likely find himself in in-care rehab, like we saw during his most-recent suspension. From that point, it’s going to be in the hands of commissioner Roger Goodell and Co.
Even then, it’s nice to see Wilson go to bat for his teammate.
