Some members of the Carolina Panthers may want to see Russell Okung join the team in free agency. One man — Ryan Kalil — does not.
Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network tweeted on Monday that different Panthers were “actively recruiting” Okung to join the team. Kalil responded, informing Rapoport that he is not included in that group.

Of course, this is sort of unexpected. Perhaps Kalil just has a strong sense of loyalty to a guy like Mike Remmers, who is about to become a free agent. Even though that makes little sense, given Remmers’ struggles in pass protection.
Or, perhaps Kalil just wants the Panthers to sign his brother Matt, rather than bringing Okung into the fold.
Kalil is clearly not interested in this particular free agent coming in to protect his quarterback. It’s nice that he took the time to let us all know.
