While it is assumed that Geno Smith will remain the New York Jets starting quarterback Week 1, head coach Rex Ryan has yet to conform anything officially.
Rex Ryan won't name a Week 1 starter yet http://t.co/VOsovxG36S

Ryan had this to say about the quarterback situation (via NFL.com).
I’m not naming a starter for Week 1.
While remaining vague about the Week 1 starting status for either Smith or veteran Michael Vick, Ryan reportedly said that Smith will start in the third preseason game and Vick will pick up after the second half.
Coincidentally, the third week of the preseason last year was when Mark Sanchez got injured, leaving Smith the clear starter from that point forward. Perhaps Ryan doesn’t want to jinx things yet, as an official starter will likely be announced later on next week.
Mark Sanchez's shoulder injury was supposedly day-to-day, but will now likely need surgery: http://t.co/Im18gkBq2X All yours, Geno.
