Markieff Morris, who was recently waived immediately after traded by the Washington Wizards to the New Orleans Pelicans, reportedly has a new home.
Shams Charania of The Athletic reported on Thursday that Morris agreed to a contract with the Oklahoma City Thunder.
The big picture: Morris was a popular free agent. The Los Angeles Lakers were among the other teams interested in his services.
- On the season, the 6-foot-10 forward has averaged 11.5 points and 5.1 rebounds in 26 minutes a game.
- Morris is also shooting 43.6 percent from the field, 33.3 percent on threes, and 78.1 percent on free throws.
Looking ahead: Morris should improve Oklahoma City’s already formidable inside presence.
- The Thunder rank second in the NBA in total rebounds a game. They’re also tied for seventh in rebound differential.
- Morris will get a chance to play for a contender. Entering Thursday, Oklahoma City sits at 37-19 and occupies the No. 3 seed in the Western Conference.
