The Atlanta Hawks pulled off a minor trade earlier on Thursday, adding former All-Star guard Jeff Teague in a trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
Atlanta’s thought process is that stud sophomore Trae Young needs more help as the team moves on from a 9-32 first half of the season.
Now comes this report from Yahoo! Sports Chris Haynes indicating that Atlanta has moved on from the idea of acquiring Detroit Pistons All-Star Andre Drummond and could pull the trigger on a trade for Oklahoma City Thunder big man Steven Adams.
The report notes that Atlanta offered Damian Jones, Chandler Parsons or Allen Crabbe and a first-round pick to the Pistons for Drummond. Crabbe was ultimately dealt to Minnesota in the Teague deal.
Adams, 26, has been on the block for some time now. The center is averaging 11.8 points and 10 rebounds for a Thunder team that’s surprisingly 23-18 at the midway point of the season. Whether OKC’s surprising success changes its plans ahead of next month’s trade deadline remains to be seen.
