The Golden State Warriors have added some grit and depth. According to TNT’s David Aldridge, they have signed David West, who played last season with the San Antonio Spurs.

Aldridge added that the veteran minimum is $1.29 million.

From the Warriors’ perspective, there is very little to dislike about this move.

If nothing else, it keeps him from signing with their Eastern Conference nemesis, the Cleveland Cavaliers. The Cavs had expressed interest in West this offseason.

Additionally, while the signing of Kevin Durant makes Golden State unbelievably talented, depth is a potential issue. The signing of West goes a long way in fixing that problem. West scored 7.1 points and grabbed four rebounds per game in 18 minutes a game last season for the Spurs.

West not only adds depth to the Warriors, but he also provides a strong inside presence. He’s 6-foot-9, 250 pounds, and has averaged just under seven rebounds a game throughout his career.
