Things are now happening at a rapid pace around the NFL during its legal free-agent tampering period. We already know Tom Brady is moving on from the New England Patriots and fellow former NFL MVP Cam Newton has been granted permission to seek a trade.
Now comes this piece of information from Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports suggesting that the Indianapolis Colts are finalizing a deal with eight-time Pro Bowl quarterback Philip Rivers.
In no way should this be considered too much of a surprise. Indianapolis has been linked to the 38-year-old Rivers on a never-ending loop since it was decided he’s not returning to the Los Angeles Chargers.
The possible future Hall of Famer is coming off a 2019 season that saw him throw 23 touchdowns compared to 20 interceptions. It was the worst statistical performance of his career. It also came on the heels of a 2018 campaign that saw Rivers throw 32 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
Indy now has a reliable quarterback under center as it looks to unseat the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC next season.
