Report: Bulls’ Bobby Portis out several weeks with MCL sprain

The Chicago Bulls season already started on a down note with injuries to point guard Kris Dunn and power forward and power forward Lauri Markkanen. Now Chicago suffered another blow, reportedly losing forward Bobby Portis to an MCL sprain

According to Shams Charania of The Athletic, Portis reportedly suffered a sprained MCL in his right knee during Wednesday’s game and is expected to miss several weeks of action.

Now without Portis and Markkanen, Chicago will rely heavily on power forward Jabari Parker to eat up a majority of minutes at the four. The 23-year-old, who played less than 26 minutes in his first three games, played 31 minutes on Wednesday.

While he is a capable scorer, Parker’s defensive limitations will cause further problems for a team that allows 117.7 points per game this season. Chicago will now have to operate without two of its primary forwards deep into November.
