The defending champion Houston Astros are not even waiting for the offseason to make front-office changes, as the club parted ways with assistant general manager Bill Firkus and farm director Sara Goodrum, The Athletic reported Monday.
The Astros are alive and well in the American League Division Series with the matchup against the Minnesota Twins tied 1-1, with Game 3 set for Tuesday at Minneapolis.
The changes were initiated by first-year general manager Dana Brown, who was hired in January to replace James Click.
Firkus, who has been in the Astros organization for 10 years, was appointed to the assistant general manager spot last November when Click departed.
Goodrum had been with the Astros since December of 2021 after a stint as the minor league hitting coordinator with the Milwaukee Brewers. She was one of MLB’s highest-ranking female executives.
