Rangers defenseman Jacob Trouba exited New York’s Wednesday night game against the visiting Tampa Bay Lightning in the first period due to an upper-body injury.
Trouba got tangled up with Lightning forward Corey Perry in the corner and crashed hard to the ice, with the side of his face smacking the surface first. The team announced that he would not return to the contest after he logged just 2:41 of ice time.
Trouba, 29, has eight goals and 22 assists in 78 games for the Rangers, who are chasing the second-place New Jersey Devils in the Metropolitan Division.
