NFL Teams Split $6 Billion in Revenue

According to financials that were released by the Green Bay Packers, the 32 NFL teams split a total of $6 billion in revenue. Doing basic math, that equates to about $187.7 million in revenue for each team (via ESPN).

According to the very same ESPN report, revenue grew 4.3 percent from the following season. Business insider Darren Rovell had this to say about the ridiculous numbers.

The national revenue dollars the Packers and the rest of the league’s teams have received continue to climb over the years, with the total pie up 56 percent, factoring for inflation, since 2006.

To put this into perspective, the TOTAL revenue numbers for the NBA were $4.5 billion for the 2012-2013 season (via Statista.com). That’s simply insane.

Green bay is required to release its financials because it is the only publicly owned team in the NFL. According to those financials, the Packers brought in $136.3 million in local revenues, which means if you factor in expenses, they put up a net profit of over $25 million last year.
