It doesn’t get much better than the individual performances the Milwaukee Bucks got out of All-Stars Jrue Holiday and Giannis Antetokounmpo on Wednesday night. Already boasting the best record in NBA, the Bucks only re-established themselves as the team to beat as the regular season winds down.
Tonight, it was the Indiana Pacers who had to take on Milwaukee’s star-studded herd, and while the Hoosier State’s home team didn’t struggle to light up the scoreboard, putting up 136 points, they also allowed the Bucks to score 149.
But more so, it was just the utter dominance displayed by both Holiday and the Greek Freak, in which they put up legitimate video-game numbers in the win. As Holiday stated, “he was just cooking.”
- Jrue Holiday’s stat line: 20/30 FG, 3/6 3PT, 8/10 FT, 8 AST, 8 REB, 1 STL, 1 BLK, 51 points
- Giannis Antetokounmpo’s stat line: 14/18 FG, 10/14 FT, 12 AST, 17 REB, 1 STL, 38 points
Both players managed to do all this while playing just 32 minutes. Topping it all off, Brook Lopez also chipped in 21 points, eight rebounds, and three blocks. This trio scored 110 of the team’s 149 points.
It didn’t matter what the Pacers, who had seven players score in double figures, did. The Bucks weren’t going to leave Gainbridge Fieldhouse without the win.
If the rest of the NBA wanted to overlook the Bucks’ success so far, Milwaukee’s core just provided the entire Eastern Conference with yet another reason why they should Fear the Deer heading into postseason play.
