There has been some rumors circlulating from Wisconsin that Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Mike Pettine could be out of a job.
Pettine’s defense put up an historically bad performance in a blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers in Sunday’s NFC Championship Game.
Fortunately for the longtime coach, it will not cost him his job. ESPN’s Rob Demovsky reported on Wednesday that Pettine met with head coach Matt LaFleur, and the two decided to move forward together.
Green Bay gave up nearly 300 rushing yards in a 37-20 loss to San Francisco. That included Raheem Mostert tallying the second-most rushing yards in NFL Playoff history.
As a whole, Pettine led a vastly improved defense from previous versions in Green Bay. This unit finished in the top 10 in points allowed. That has bought him another season with the Pack.
