As the Miami Dolphins trimmed their roster to 53, former second-round pick Daniel Thomas was one of the odd-men out.

Due to a hamstring injury that kept Thomas out of three of the Dolphins’ four preseason games, he sat vulnerable to a cut after both fellow running backs Lamar Miller and Knowshon Moreno outplayed him during the preseason. Thomas tallied up only 38 yards on 13 carries with a touchdown in Thursday’s 14-13 victory over St. Louis.
Overall, Thomas’ numbers for the past three seasons with the Dolphins have been quite underwhelming, as he managed a total of 1,312 yards with eight touchdowns for an average of 3.6 yards per carry.
