Kris Bryant is the Future of the Chicago Cubs, Perhaps MLB

The young phenoms of Major League Baseball are here, and they are making their presence known. We all know about Mike Trout, Bryce Harper, and the liking, however there’s a name that has been popping up and he could very well be mentioned along with young All Stars, and I will tell you why.

The Chicago Cubs aren’t exactly booking hotels for playoffs, but that does not mean they don’t have a future. Kris Bryant, is their future.

The 22 year-old is now hitting with a .385/.556/.846. He’s accumulated 38 home runs this season in the minors and has had major talks of promotions (pun is very much intended).

I’m not going to sit here and argue the fact that this guy needs to be in the Bigs as of now, that’s not what I’m trying to prove. Like I mentioned, this is huge for the future for the Cubbies.

According to the Chicago Tribune, President Theo Epstein said

I still don’t forsee a scenario where Kris would get called up this year. It would really take extraordinary circumstances to call up anyboy in his first full professional season. For us…not only would the player have to be doing extraordinary things, but there would have to be unique circumstances with the big league team, where we were in a pennant race and really needed that boost.

Epstein makes a valid point. And there is something to be said about hitting 38 bombs and making your impression on the MLB that isn’t considered “extraordinary,” so for now, we sit and we wait. However, don’t expect the second overall pick in the 2013 draft to join Javier Baez any time soon.

Let’s just say he should keep his shades on, because the future is looking bright for Bryant.
