John Elway knows that his reputation of drafting the right quarterbacks is not great. But on Wednesday, the Denver Broncos general manager made it clear that he’s not done missing on quarterbacks.
In fact, Elway is not done missing on any players.

Quarterback is definitely the most notable position where Elway has struggled.
To his credit, his decision to sign Peyton Manning after the 2011 season worked out well in the short term. With Manning under center, the Broncos won four AFC West titles, two AFC Championships, and a Super Bowl.
But the struggles of draftees such as Brock Osweiler, Trevor Siemian, and Paxton Lynch have kept Denver from moving forward since Manning’s retirement. Lynch, a first-round pick, is particularly noteworthy in that group.
But strangely enough, Elway has the right attitude. It’s hard to be a good executive in the NFL if you’re afraid to swing and miss. Elway has his flaws. But that is not one of them.
