Inter Miami CF’s Ian Fray has a torn ACL and will be out indefinitely, managing owner Jorge Mas said Saturday.
The team signed Fray, an 18-year-old center back from Coconut Creek, Fla., to a contract on Jan. 26. He sustained the injury last week.
Fray played for Fort Lauderdale CF in USL League One in 2020 and was a second-team All-League selection. He had one assist and was fourth in the league in passing accuracy among defenders at 86.5 percent.
He was expected to get playing time for Inter Miami and discussed how excited he was about the upcoming season when he signed last month.
“It’s kind of a dream come true,” Fray said, per the South Florida Sun Sentinel. “My whole life, I always wanted to sign a professional contract. To sign with my hometown club is a dream come true.”
