When Yordano Ventura passed away suddenly in January, Gregory Polanco did not hesitate to express his condolences about the loss of the fiery pitcher he had faced a few times across his career.
Polanco recently gave tribute to Ventura, who was killed in a car accident during the offseason in his native Dominican Republic. The Pittsburgh Pirates outfielder had custom-made New Balance cleats crafted in Ventura’s honor, and they are spectacular.

The sudden death of Ventura shook up the baseball world. His teammates and fans shared emotional tributes to the former Kansas City Royals pitcher. He was just 25 years old.
Polanco is currently on the disabled list with a hamstring injury, and there is no timetable for his expected return.
