Outside of a big interception against the Dallas Cowboys in the playoffs, Green Bay Packers star cornerback Jaire Alexander didn’t make himself many fans in Wisconsin this season.
Alexander missed nine games to injury. He was also suspended for a game due to conduct detrimental to the team.
With Green Bay’s season now over following Saturday’s loss to the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Divisional Playoffs, Alexander decided to take to social media with a cryptic post. In fact, it might not be cryptic at all. It could foreshadow the All-Pro’s departure from the Packers.
“Thank you God. Thank you Lambeau, for 6 years. Thank you to those who showed love throughout my journey,” Alexander wrote on Instagram.
We can easily deduce that he’s hinting at a departure from the Packers during the offseason. Talking in the past-tense will lead to that speculation. The drama we saw between Alexander and the Packers add another layer to that.

Green Bay Packers could trade Jaire Alexander this offseason
The 26-year-old Alexander is playing under a four-year, $84 million contract extension he signed with Green Bay back in May of 2022. Said deal runs through the 2026 campaign.
At issue here for Green Bay is the fact that it won’t be able to outright release the embattled cornerback. Said move would result in a $27.46 million dead cap hit.
It also must be noted that Alexander has earned two Pro Bowl trips and two Second-Team All-Pro honors. Trading him makes sense given the cornerback’s past success and still relatively young age.
Back in 2022 with Green Bay, the former first-round pick from Louisville yielded a mere 63.7 QB rating when targeted while recording five interceptions. Other teams will certainly have interest in him on the NFL trade block.
