Giancarlo Stanton and the New York Yankees are taking on the hated division rival Boston Red Sox in the American League Wildcard game Tuesday evening at Fenway Park.
This is when heroes are made. Mr. October. Yet another installment of this fierce rivalry that has continued to stand the test of time.
A one-game playoff to advance to the divisional around and take on the American League East champion Tampa Bay Rays.
In the top of the first against Sox starter Nathan Eovaldi, Giancarlo Stanton thought that he launched one over the Green Monster in left field for a home run.
The one problem. Stanton forgot that the Green Monster somehow has not existed for the better part of the past century.
Notice how Stanton just stood there at the plate and checked out the ball like he had just hit a majestic homer over the 37-foot monster?
Hilariously, the former National League MVP ended up with a long single. Boston would also get out of the inning without any damage done after Eovaldi got Joey Gallo on a strikeout.
