Detroit Lions sell out NFC Championship Game watch party within hours

Detroit Lions fans have been waiting for this moment for decades. To be precise, 32 years. The last time Detroit appeared in the NFC Championship Game was all the way back in January of 1992. Since then, it’s been failure after failure.

Until now. Dan Campell and the Lions are set to visit the San Francisco 49ers in the NFC Championship Game this coming Sunday. This comes after two consecutive home wins to open the NFL Playoffs.

The scene inside Ford Field was electric for both wins with franchise legends and long-time fans showing up to bask in the glory of wins over the Los Angeles Rams and Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It now looks like Ford Field in Detroit will be absolutely packed for a watch party during the championship game on Sunday.

The Lions announced Monday afternoon that they were selling tickets for fans to enjoy the watch party as their team takes to Levi’s Stadium in Northern California.

Within seven hours, tickets for the watch party had already been sold out.

To put this into perspective, capacity for Ford Field is 65,000 strong. The team also announced that a portion of the proceeds will go to the Detroit Lions Foundation for youth and high school sport.

Without a championship of any sorts since all the way back in 1957, Lions fans are super excited about the possibility of their team reaching their first Super Bowl ever. Detroit finds itself as seven-point road underdogs against the top seed 49ers.
