Indianapolis Colts linebacker Josh McNary has apparently been charged with rape following an alleged incident that took place in Indianapolis on or around December 1.
The Indianapolis Star is indicating that McNary has also been charged with one count of criminal confinement and one count of battery.
According to Fox59 in Indianapolis, the alleged incident happened after McNary and the accuser met in a bar in downtown Indianapolis. Here’s some of the report from that outlet with details on the allegations.
The victim told Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department (IMPD) sex crimes detectives that she met an unknown man at a bar and went to his apartment downtown. She says that a fight broke out before McNary allegedly raped her.
She took his cell phone when leaving his apartment.
A hospital examination reveled that the woman suffered injuries, including dried blood behind her ear. She told police she scratched her attacker.
Police used the cell phone to make the connection to McNary. When police arrived at his apartment, McNary told them, “I know why you are here.”
He said he preserved evidence of the encounter and presented some of the woman’s clothing to police.
McNary played for Army in college and finished his career as the program’s all-time leader in sacks. After serving two years of active duty in the military, he signed on with the Colts in April of 2013. He played in 15 games this past regular season, accumulating 29 tackles and a half of sack.
