Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews continued to show us why he’s a valuable member of the community this week.
Bill Westdyke, who was hanging out with his son at the courtyard of a local hotel chain, received the surprise of a lifetime. A life-long Packers fan, one of the things he passed down to his boys, Westdyke was shocked to see Matthews show up and introduce himself.
That wasn’t the biggest surprise of the day. Matthews proceeded to present Bill with tickets to Super Bowl 50 in Santa Clara next February. It was part of an ongoing partnership with one of NFL’s sponsors, Courtyard by Marriott.

The story told here is rather amazing. Bill has been the primary caretaker to his four children after his wife was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis 10 years ago. Once one of the sons got in touch with those in charge of the campaign, the wheels were in motion for Bill to receive something for his years of hard work and dedication to his family.
As we prepare to celebrate all the fathers out there, this is an amazing story. These men ask for very little in return, so we should do everything to honor them, even if it is for just one day.
Matthews and the NFL did just that. Good for them.
