Brendan Rodgers, the top prospect in the Colorado Rockies organization who had spent time in the majors in 2019, appears done for the year.
Rodgers took to Instagram to post a picture of himself in the hospital bed. His caption read, in part, “See you in 2019.”
Rodgers is not only Colorado’s top prospect, but (per MLB.com) is the No. 6 prospect in all of baseball.
Rodgers played in 25 games for the Rockies in 2019. In that stretch, he hit .224/.272/.250. He excelled in 37 Triple-A games, hitting .350/.413/.622 with nine homers.
This is the latest bit of rough news for the Rockies, who have struggled recently. Fortunately for Colorado, though, the second wild card spot remains in play. Entering Wednesday’s action, the Rockies are only two out of the second wild card spot in the NL.
