The New York Yankees announced manager Aaron Boone’s 2024 coaching staff on Wednesday.

Former Detroit Tigers and Los Angeles Angels manager Brad Ausmus takes over as bench coach, replacing Carlos Mendoza, who left to become the manager of the New York Mets.

Ausmus, 54, compiled a 314-332 record with the Tigers (2014-17) and was 72-90 with the Angels in 2019. A three-time Gold Glove-winning catcher, he played 18 seasons with four teams from 1993-2010 and was a 1999 All-Star.

Ausmus most recently served as the bench coach for the Oakland Athletics in 2022.

Matt Blake returns for his fifth season as the Yankees’ pitching coach.

Joining them are bullpen coach Mike Harkey, third base and outfield coach Luis Rojas, first base and infield coach Travis Chapman, and hitting coach James Rowson.

Desi Druschel is the assistant pitching coach, and Casey Dykes and Pat Roessler are the assistant hitting coaches, with Tanner Swanson serving as major league field coordinator and director of catching.

The Yankees finished 82-80 in 2023, missing the playoffs for the first time since 2016.
