Blazers waive future Hall of Famer Pau Gasol

In with the old, out with the old. One day after 35-year-old forward Carmelo Anthony made his debut with the team, the Portland Trail Blazers have reportedly waived Pau Gasol.

Gasol, 39, signed a one-year, $2.57 million free-agent deal with Portland during the summer. That came after he missed a majority of last season with a foot injury.

As the report notes, the future Hall of Famer has been unable to successfully rehab from said foot injury and the ensuing surgery.

A six-time All-Star and two-time NBA champion, this could very well be the end of the line for Gasol. If so, he ends a stellar career having averaged 17.0 points and 9.2 rebounds in a whopping 1,226 games.
