Bills Place Aaron Kromer on Indefinite Paid Leave

Allegedly punch a minor and threaten to kill his family. Those are the charges being levied against Buffalo Bills offensive line coach Aaron Kromer. As serious as this situation might be, the Bills took a rather weak stance on Tuesday when they announced he was being placed on indefinite PAID leave.

The Bills statement read:

“Over the last few days our organization has continued to gather information in regards to the alleged incident involving Offensive Line Coach Aaron Kromer. We have been in regular discussions with the league office and have decided to place Aaron on indefinite paid administrative leave in accordance with the league’s Personal Conduct Policy while we continue to work our way through the investigative process with the league.”

So while Kromer awaits for the legal process to play out, he’s going to still be collecting checks from a NFL team. Talk about a ridiculous double standard.

While we know full well that the veteran coach is innocent until proven guilty in the eyes of the law, the NFL itself plays under a different set of rules. It’s a different entity, and has made it clear to point this fact out multiple times in the past—both through its personal conduct policy and actions it has taken against players.

The Bills had to take a stand here. There’s no question about that. However, the team is surely going to face some intense backlash from both the media and the public.
