Coach Jimmy Allen is out at Army after seven seasons as he and the military institution mutually agreed to part ways, the school announced Wednesday.
The change was announced three days after Army was routed 91-74 by Colgate in the semifinals of the Patriot League tournament.
The Black Knights went 17-16 (10-8 Patriot League) this season for the second winning campaign during Allen’s stint. Allen was 98-112 in his seven seasons.
“As is our practice following each season, we conducted a holistic review of all facets of the program,” Army athletic director Mike Buddie said in the news release. “We are thankful to Coach Allen for his years of service to the program and to these cadets.
“We are excited for the future of Army Basketball with a new leader to continue to elevate the program and provide an extraordinary Division I experience. We wish Coach Allen the very best in the next chapter of his career.”
Allen guided Army to the College Basketball Invitation quarterfinals in 2020-21 when the squad finished 12-10.
The Black Knights have never qualified for the NCAA Tournament.
