Anthony Rendon receives lengthy suspension from MLB after altercation with fan

Los Angeles Angels star third baseman Anthony Rendon found himself in a bit of a pickle after their season-opening loss to the Oakland Athletics in Northern California on Thursday.

Videos from inside the stadium who Rendon getting into it with an A’s fan and attempting to land a punch. It was not a great look for the high-priced infielder.

Shortly after MLB announced that it has opened up an investigation into the situation, Rendon has been hit with a five-game suspension.

“Los Angeles Angels third baseman Anthony Rendon has received a five-game suspension and an undisclosed fine for his actions involving a fan last Thursday, when his Club played the Oakland Athletics.

Unless appealed, the suspension of Rendon is scheduled to begin tonight (Monday), when the Angels open a road series vs. the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park. If Rendon elects to appeal, then the discipline will be held in abeyance until the process is complete.”

Signed to a whopping seven-year, $245 million contract back in 2020, Rendon has not lived up to expectations in LosAngeles after a brilliant career with the Washington Nationals.

This latest incident and his pending suspension doesn’t paint Rendon in the greatest of lights off the field.
