The owner of the Kansas City Chiefs, Clark Hunt, gave a major update this week on the outlook of head coach Andy Reid’s future with the organization.
For nearly 25 seasons, Andy Reid has remained one of the very best coaches in the National Football League. During 14 seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles, he turned the franchise into one of the dominant forces in the NFC, took the team to playoffs seven times, and reached the Super Bowl in 2004.

However, the consistent success without championships soured his relationship with the team led to his departure from Philly and eventually falling into the laps of the Kansas City Chiefs. Where he has taken his legacy in the NFL to new heights over the last 10 years. Racking up a remarkable .722 winning percentage during a tenure that has seen the franchise win two Super Bowls and make a third trip to the league’s championship game.
Kansas City Chiefs record (2022): 14-3

Before he was a head coach, Reid was an assistant on the Green Bay Packers and has been working in the league for over 30 years, so it is unsurprising that at 65 years old and after a second Super Bowl victory, there was serious speculation that Reid could be pondering his exit from the industry in the near future. However, instead of walking off into the sunset he chose to come back for another season in Kansas City.
While he is all in for 2023, there isn’t huge confidence he will remain with the Chiefs in the years ahead. Well, the team’s owner gave reason for fans to be hopeful this week when he offered a very positive answer when asked about Reid’s excitement to be coaching again in 2023.
“[Retirement’s] never come up in my conversations with Andy. As I see Andy, he remains incredibly energized and excited. He’s all about the Kansas City Chiefs and trying to get us back to the playoffs and win another Super Bowl. I think he has as much energy and passion as I’ve seen in the 10-plus years that he’s been with us.”

That is certainly a good sign when arguably the most important piece in the team’s success is as excited as ever to do the job after over 30 years in the league.
