Is it a race to the guillotine in the Big Apple?

With the New York Yankees falling below .500 following their sweep at the hands of the Atlanta Braves, SportsBetting.ag released updated odds on the first Major League Baseball manager to be fired this season.

Not surprisingly, the Yankees’ Aaron Boone leads the way at +200 with his team sitting in last place in the American League East and 6.5 games out of the final wild-card spot.

Boone has taken over for his cross-town rival Buck Showalter, who has spent much of the season as the book’s favorite to be the first manager fired. The Mets are 55-66 and 7.5 games out of the final wild-card spot in the National League, having waved the white flag by trading ace pitchers Max Scherzer and Justin Verlander before the deadline.

Showalter is now being offered at +300, followed by the Los Angeles Angels’ Phil Nevin at +400. The Angels were aggressive in adding to their roster ahead of the deadline, only to fall 7.0 games out of the wild-card picture in the AL entering Thursday.
