WATCH: Kyle Shanahan called out DPI before it happened in NFC Championship

Kyle Shanahan lands a new contract

San Francisco 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan is credited with being one of the smartest people in the NFL. He proved it once again in the NFC Championship, calling out a defensive pass interference and pointing it out to the referee before it happened.

As the clip from Sunday’s NFC Championship highlights from “Inside the NFL”, Shanahan approaches the ref and tells him exactly what’s going to happen on the play. Just as Shanahan predicted, Green Bay Packers safety Will Redmond grabbed tight end George Kittle on his route.

The refs spotted it with Shanahan’s help and immediately threw the flag. Instead of a third-down stop by Green Bay’s defense, which would have given them the ball back with a chance to make it a 10-point game, the 49ers kept the football and put the game away.

Drawing up an incredible game plan is already one of Shanahan’s incredible strengths that are sending the 49ers to the Super Bowl. It’s his attention to detail with little things like this that could help the 49ers become Super Bowl champions.
