After five innings of the Atlanta Braves being unable to build on their 1-0 lead, outfielder Adam Duvall came in as a pinch hitter in the seventh inning and delivered in the clutch.
Duvall stepped into the batter’s box for Mike Foltynewicz, who tossed seven shutout innings on 81 pitches, hoping to give his team desperately needed insurance runs. After working the count full, Duvall turned an inside fastball into a two-run home run.
Much like Foltynewicz, Duvall’s incredible moment came after he spent months in the minors refining his mechanics and trying to improve himself as a hitter.
All of his hard work paid off on Friday with a home run that could help Atlanta take Game 2 and get back in this series.
