Dolphins officially name Ryan Fitzpatrick starting QB

In what can’t be considered too much of a surprise, Miami Dolphins head coach Brian Flores took to the podium Thursday night to name veteran Ryan Fitzpatrick the team’s Week 1 starting quarterback.

Once both Fitzpatrick and second-year quarterback Josh Rosen were listed as inactive ahead of Miami’s season finale against the Saints Thursday evening, it became clear this would be the case.

A lot of fans in South Beach have been demanding that Rosen get the nod after he looked better than Fitzpatrick during the preseason. After all, the Dolphins did exhaust a second-round pick on the young quarterback back in April.

It’s not to be. Flores thinks his Dolphins can contend for a playoff spot in 2019. It’s in this that he decided to go with the veteran.
