The New York Yankees are on the verge of some significant MLB history after DJ LeMahiue hit a three-run home run off Justin Verlander Sunday.
Not only was this a franchise record that has been in place since 1941, but with the blast, the Yankees have now hit a home run in 26 straight games — a streak that started on May 26.
If they can do it again on Monday, then they will tie the MLB record of 27 straight games.
Sunday’s Old-Timers’ Day has been pretty special for a number of reasons. Earlier in the day, legendary closer Mariano Rivera hit an inside-the-park home run that wowed the crowd. Just a few hours later, LeMahieu’s blast had everyone on their feet once more.
