Dennis Smith Jr. and DeAndre Jordan obviously weren’t the headliners in the shocking trade that sent Kristaps Porzingis from the New York Knicks to the Dallas Mavericks last week.
But both have more than proven themselves to be capable. We saw that early and often as the duo made their Knicks debut at Madison Square Garden against the Memphis Grizzlies Sunday afternoon.
Here, we see Smith Jr. lob up an alley-oop to Jordan, who threw it down with authority.

If the Knicks were to keep Jordan beyond this week’s NBA trade deadline, this could be a nice little pairing in the Big Apple. Jordan remains one of the best defensive centers in the game.
For his part, Smith Jr. is less than a calendar year removed from being considered the future face of the Mavericks. He has a ton of untapped talent. That was on display in his Knicks debut Sunday.
