The Los Angeles Lakers won’t be getting an important reinforcement back on the court over the short term as they make a playoff push out west.
Out since January 19 with an ankle sprain, second-year guard Lonzo Ball will now be reevaluated in another week to see when he might return.
The Lakers medical staff has determined that while Lonzo Ball continues to make progress towards a return to play, he needs more healing/recovery time due to a bone bruise related to the ankle sprain suffered on Jan. 19. He’s set to be reevaluated by team docs in about a week.

This has to be concerning for the Lakers. They boast a substandard 5-9 record in the 14 games he’s missed.
Ball, 21, is averaging 9.9 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.4 assists per game this season on 41 percent shooting from the field.
Los Angeles heads into the weekend with a 30-31 record and as the 10th seed out west.
