Report: Chargers starting LB Denzel Perryman out for season

Chargers LB Denzel Perryman carted off field with leg injury.

The Los Angeles Chargers are one of the NFL’s hottest teams and have a great shot to make the playoffs this year, but they’ll be going the rest of the way without starting linebacker Denzel Perryman.

Ian Rapoport of NFL Media reported Monday afternoon that Perryman “suffered an injury to his LCL and likely needs hamstring surgery as well,” noting he’s out for the season but could be ready after a 3-4 month recovery time.

Since being selected by the Chargers in the second round of the 2015 NFL Draft, Perryman has appeared in 42 games, starting 35.

He had started all nine of Los Angeles’ games this year before going down with his injuries on Sunday against the Oakland Raiders. Before exiting that game, he had racked up 51 tackles and one interception.
