Some residents in Mecklenburg County, which essentially encompasses Charlotte, N.C., wanted Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton for an interesting job.
According to Joe Bruno of WSOCTV, Newton received 11 write-in votes to be the county’s soil and water conservation district supervisor.

We’ve seen sports figures receive write-in votes for all kinds of positions in the past, but this one’s odd. While Newton is a college graduate, his degree in sociology wouldn’t seem to indicate he’d be proficient as a soil and water conservation district supervisor.
Then again, it really does show he’s a popular guy in Charlotte, where it’s apparently “when in doubt, put your faith in Cam Newton.”
