Vikings’ Dalvin Cook expected to be out until Week 11

The Minnesota Vikings have seen second-year running back Dalvin Cook on the field for a total of seven of a possible 23 games since the team made him a second-round pick back in 2017.

Thus far this season, Cook has attempted just 36 runs in three games while dealing with a nagging hamstring injury. This comes on the heels of him missing all but four games after suffering a torn ACL last season.

It doesn’t look like Cook will be returning any time soon. According to ESPN’s Courtney Cronin, multiple league sources have indicated that Cook will likely miss the Vikings’ next two games prior to their Week 10 bye.

Taking on two playoff contenders in the form of the Saints and Lions during this span, Minnesota will continue relying on Latavius Murray to do a bulk of the work.

The good news here is that Murray has performed well in Cook’s stead. The former Pro Bowler has put up 297 total yards and two touchdowns over the past three games.

The bad news? It’s looking more and more like the Vikings won’t be able to rely on Cook moving forward. He’s proven to be injury plagued during the early part of his career and just can’t stay on the field.
