Cleveland Browns head coach Hue Jackson has made it clear on more than one occasion that Pro Bowler Tyrod Taylor is his team’s unquestioned starting quarterback.
In fact, Jackson has pushed back against the idea of even giving rookie No. 1 overall pick Baker Mayfield first-team reps.
Unfortunately, Jackson might not have a choice moving forward. In the first quarter of Cleveland’s preseason game against the Philadelphia Eagles Thursday evening, Taylor landed awkwardly on his left wrist. It most certainly didn’t look good.

Taylor immediately left the game and returned to the locker room.

Pure conjecture, but the Browns have to be hoping that it’s a sprain or something less significant. Cleveland immediately classified Taylor as questionable to return with a left hand injury, but that’s pretty much preseason jargon right there.
What we do know is that Mayfield will now get the first-team reps that the Browns have avoided giving the former Heisman winner in the past.
Update: For some reason, Hue Jackson elected to put Taylor back in the game.
