NBA extends Adam Silver’s contract through 2023-24 season

Adam Silver

The NBA Board of Governors Chairman and Toronto Raptors Governor Larry Tanenbaum announced on Wednesday that NBA Commissioner Adam Silver had his contract extended through the 2023-24 NBA season.

As Joe Trahan noted while sharing this news, this really was an easy decision. Silver has done an outstanding job, both from a standpoint of making the NBA popular again and of advocating sensible policies that benefit both the owners and players.

Players appreciate Silver for the way he sticks up for their right to advocate for causes outside of sports, among other things.

He’s also made strong statements about tanking and about resting star players, which is what fans have appreciated since he took over as Commissioner in 2014.
