WATCH: Shohei Ohtani throws fastest pitch by starter this season, nearly 101 MPH

Angels pitcher Shohei Ohtani

The superlatives we can use to describe Los Angeles Angels rookie Shohei Ohtani continue to multiply. He’s already done stuff this season that MLB hasn’t seen in a century, and on Tuesday night he once again showed he’s in a class all by himself.

Dealing off the mound to Josh Reddick, Ohtani hit 100.6 miles per hour on the radar gun, marking the fastest pitch thrown by a starting pitcher so far this year.

Then, after that pitch, he absolutely wrecked Reddick with a filthy off-speed pitch.

What’s even crazier about hitting nearly 101 is that he was pitching from the stretch. Ohtani is simply unreal. This guy was worth every penny the Angels paid him, and we cannot wait to see what he does for an encore.
