LSU running back Derrius Guice declares for 2018 NFL Draft

LSU running back Derrius Guice

Following a junior season that saw him put up nearly 1,400 total yards and 13 touchdowns, Derrius Guice has announced that he’ll forgo his senior season at LSU and enter the 2018 NFL Draft.

In no way is this surprising news. Since taking over for Leonard Fournette as the Tigers’ starter this past season, it was almost a foregone conclusion that Guice would enter the draft.

At 5-foot-11 and 218 pounds, he’s seen as a prototypical three-down back at the next level. In fact, some were more impressed by Guice’s 2016 performance than what we saw from Fournette prior to him being selected No. 4 overall back in 2017. In sharing time with Fournette, Guice tallied 1,493 total yards and 16 touchdowns at a clip of 7.6 yards per rush back in 2016.

The top-end prospect is expected to be the No. 2 running back off the board behind Penn State’s Saquon Barkley and could potentially go in the top 10.
