WATCH: Deion Jones intercepts Drew Brees in the end zone to save game

Drew Brees is unquestionably a Hall of Fame quarterback. But at the end of Thursday night’s game against the Atlanta Falcons, the New Orleans Saints’ signal caller made a rookie mistake.

Trailing by three and facing a second-and-10 from the Atlanta 11, Brees went for the lead. But he threw into traffic and Deion Jones made a brilliant play to intercept the ball.

Certainly, that’s a fantastic play from Jones. But needing only a field goal to tie the game, that’s not a pass that we expect to see from someone like Brees.

New Orleans had one chance to get the ball back. But an unsportsmanlike conduct foul against Saints’ coach Sean Payton gave Atlanta a first down, securing the Falcons’ 20-17 win.
