Texas Rangers pitcher Martin Perez is expected to miss the first month of the 2018 season. What caused his injury is not something you see every day.
He had an encounter with a bull.
Martin Perez suffered broken radial head in non-pitching elbow in incident with a bull. Had surgery last week. Prolly out until May 1.

Bull was in holding pen. Made move that startled Perez. Perez fell on elbow and suffered injury. https://t.co/JoShxDossO

And we didn’t think that the Rangers bullpen issues could possibly get any worse.
This may not be as peculiar as Jeremy Affeldt injuring himself while hugging his son, or Jonathan Lucroy getting injured by a suitcase while looking for a sock. But Perez’s injury is unusual enough to earn him a spot on baseball’s vast weird injury list.
Perez started 32 games for Texas in 2017. He posted a 4.82 ERA, 1.54 WHIP, and struck out 115 batters in 185 innings.
