Report: Titans signing Brandon Weeden as Marcus Mariota recovers from injury

Brandon Weeden

Marcus Mariota suffered a hamstring injury that has him reportedly “day-to-day” heading into NFL Week 5. As the Tennessee Titans wrestle with the uncertainty surrounding the quarterback position, both now and long term, they have reportedly decided to sign Brandon Weeden.

Weeden has previously played for the Cleveland Browns, Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans. He’s quite honestly been slightly below mediocre throughout his career, completing 57.9 percent of his passes for 6,462 yards with 31 touchdowns and 30 interceptions.

At this time, Matt Cassel is the only other quarterback on Tennessee’s roster. He was awful this past Sunday against the Houston Texans, throwing two interceptions and completing just 40 percent of his passes.

Some might say there is another free agent quarterback out there that could do much better than either of these guys. At this time, however, perhaps the Titans are sure that Mariota will be back sooner, rather than later and don’t want to deal with the media storm that would follow such a signing.
