Future Hall of Famer David Ortiz to publish memoir in May

David Ortiz is still retired and will remain so for those hoping his announcement was a dream.

The 41-year-old hung up his cleats after one of his best seasons in 2016, but there could be some good news for the die-hard Big Papi fans. The 20-year veteran is publishing a memoir and it comes out in May of this year.

Papi will be “an entertaining, unfiltered memoir by one of the game’s greatest, most clutch sluggers,” according to the launch website. You can pre-order on the site as well. It will also be available on Amazon, Barnes and Noble and Google.

Ortiz had a phenomenal season in 2016, finishing with a .315/.401/.620 line and a league-leading 1.021 OPS. The 10-time All-Star leaves behind a legacy in the city of Boston and the sport itself.
