There is some potentially good news on the horizon for the Minnesota Vikings.
According to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk, veteran running back Adrian Peterson has resumed light running, per a team source. Peterson’s 2016 season was cut short when he suffered a torn MCL back in September.
Following surgery, his projected timetable to return was sometime in December. This would of course make for a nice holiday gift for a Vikings offense that has struggled to maintain any type of reputable rushing attack.
To date, Minnesota’s rushing offense ranks dead least in the league. It is averaging a lowly 2.7 yards per attempt and only 69.8 rushing yards per game.
The Vikings started out the season hot and have since fizzled out big time. They are currently in the midst of a four-game losing streak after starting the season with five consecutive wins.
If there is any chance the team can get Peterson back and healthy next month, it would provide the Vikings some fighting hope after falling to second place in the NFC North.
Fortunately, Peterson’s track record when it comes to recovering from injuries and surgeries is quite remarkable.
