Rory McIlroy isn’t close to contending at the 2016 Open Championship, and he let his frustration get the better of him during Saturday’s third round.
Sitting at even par, 12 shots off the lead as he hit his second shot into the par-5 16th hole, McIlroy shanked his approach shot. He then reacted…poorly.

Anyone who has shanked his or her shot can relate to the emotional response McIlroy displayed. That said, he’s a professional and needs to act like it. Throwing clubs is not only unseemly, but it is potentially dangerous as well.
Thankfully for the Northern Irishman, he did manage to clean up his par on the hole but remains well out of contention heading into Sunday’s final round.
